Hey dads, let’s face it: we don’t know everything, and that’s okay! Becoming a father is a learning experience full of surprises, laughter, and the occasional cry (from both you and the baby). It’s a beautiful mess, and no matter how much advice we receive or how many parenting books we read, there will always be something new to learn. The most important thing is to embrace this uncertainty and remember that you’re not alone – all dads have been there, and we’re all in this together.
Taking a break from the large, informational posts, I thought having some dads share their perspectives would be cool. These dads are sharing their advice for new fathers on newborns and navigating early fatherhood.
1. Trust Your Gut
“Trust your instincts! You might not feel confident at first, but you’ll quickly learn the ropes. Don’t be afraid to try different ways of soothing your baby – sometimes the oddest tricks work the best. One night, I discovered that gently bouncing on an exercise ball while holding my baby was the perfect way to calm her down.” – Jim, 38 and Father of 2
2. Diapers Are Not That Bad
“Don’t be intimidated by diaper changes. I was terrified at first, but after a few tries, it became second nature. Remember: practice makes perfect! You’ll be a diaper-changing ninja in no time.” – Stephen, 29 and Father of 1

3. Recharge When You Can
“Newborns sleep a lot, but not always when you want them to. Embrace the chaos and adjust your schedule accordingly. Try to squeeze in a power nap when your baby is sleeping, and don’t feel guilty about it. You need to recharge your batteries to be the best dad you can be.” – Mason, 36 and Father of 3
4. Ask For Help
“Ask for help when you need it. You don’t have to go it alone. Your partner, family, and friends are there to support you. Don’t feel like you’re burdening them – they want to help you bond with your baby and enjoy the experience.” – Anthony, 32 and Father of Twins
5. Learn To Multitask
“Get ready to become a master multitasker. I never thought I could prepare dinner, console my crying baby, and talk to my wife about our day – all at the same time. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish when you’re motivated by love.” – Travis, 35 and Father of 1
6. Swaddling Is Great
“Swaddling is a game-changer! It mimics the womb and makes babies feel safe and secure. I was amazed at how much better our newborns slept once we started swaddling them. There are plenty of tutorials online, so be sure to check them out.” – Vince, 41 and Father of 3
7. Every Moment Is Precious
“Enjoy the little moments. When you’re in the thick of things, it’s easy to forget how quickly time flies. One day, your baby will be all grown up, and you’ll miss the late-night cuddles and their tiny little hands. Cherish every second – even the messy ones.” – Ben, 34 and Father of 2
